Behind The Lens

Location

I took it in my home In Denver, CO. It is a self portrait of sorts I guess you'd say.

Time

I'll never forget it. I had just showered, and had the house to myself for once, so laid in bed to read a min. The sun comes though the window in the bedroom at about 4 in the afternoon right about the time I leaned back against my pillows with my book, and noticed the sun coming through the blinds just right.

Lighting

The lighting was accidental to he honest. I keep my camera really close all the time just in case I stumble upon something like this picture.

Equipment

Just my Nikon D5000.

Inspiration

I don't know what inspires me to take any of my pictures. If I see something I think I'll like, and others might enjoy I try to capture it. This picture just seemed like it would be sensual and sexy so I took it.

Editing

I just made it black and white and made sure the shadows looked right. There wasn't much else to be done with it. I got really lucky with this picture.

In my camera bag

I have my cameras, my inverter just in case a battery dies, my tripod, chargers, and iPad.

Feedback

I have found that if I try to hard for one certain picture it never comes out the way I had it in my head. So I keep my cameras close and my eyes open for that lucky moment when I finally get that shot that I was thinking about a while ago. So keep those cameras close, eyes open, and get lost behind your lens. But most importantly, have fun.
