This was one of the last images captured near the end of a long day of adventuring on bicycle with my wife along the coast of Sputh Australia. The skies had been threatening all day but in the end it only made for great photos, fun riding and no rain.

Behind The Lens

Location

This image was captured while riding my bike, near the end of a 50km adventure with my wife. We were exploring in an area neither of us had ridden before. It was a beautiful, scenic ride along the coast of South Australia between Goolwa and Victor Harbor. This bridge and surrounding docks where a sign that we were about 15 minutes from our end point. It was a day full of dramatically changing skies and incredible views.

Time

It was nearly 6pm and daylight was beginning to runout. We had no lights for our bikes and we were ready for dinner after our 3 hour adventure.

Lighting

Natural lighting provided by Mother Nature

Equipment

All I had with me was my trusty old iPhone 5S at the time!

Inspiration

The sky and that feeling of knowing we were nearly done with our adventure in prefect time.

Editing

I used a few minor, quick adjustments on the Instagram app to make this photo pop a bit and look exactly as I felt.

In my camera bag

When riding and capturing shots like this, it always just my iPhone - now a XS, not 5S. When not riding I am carrying my Olympus EM-1 Mark II with my 7-14 2.8, 12-40 2.8 & 40-150 2.8 Pro lenses.

Feedback

I try to capture what I feel in what I see. If what I see doesn’t make me feel something I usually won’t reach for the camera or the phone. But if I feel even a little something I know there a chance to capture it and potentially bring it more to life in post processing.
