Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my city next to the old train bridge. I love taking photos of this bridge (as you can see in my other photos on view bug)

Time

I remember hanging out with my friends by the river in the picture at dawn. One of my friends (the one in the picture) was standing on the tracks and I remember seeing the makings of an amazing picture. The sunset was reflecting off the water and the train tracks PERFECTLY! Also the sunset made a PERFECT silhouette of my friend and the train bridge.

Lighting

The lighting was just amazing. Sunsets don't last forever so you have to be quick and in a good place to see it

Equipment

All I used was a Powershot Canon camera and a free editing software that wasn't good. This was really my first photo aside from family and friend photos at a party or something. What I didn't know that this was more than just a photo but the start of me being a photographer.

Inspiration

This photo just happened. I didn't pose it or get it up or even go to this place for the purpose of taking this photo. Just we were in the right place and my friend was standing there and then I knew that it would be a perfect picture.

Editing

I edited this photo and loved it (btw contest is key in photos like these but use it sparingly). I was super pumped up when I edited it. Now this was the first picture I really edited. I was just getting into photography and wasn't very good but I thought I was a PRO when I took it and edited it. I sent it to my friend (it was late because I edited it that night so he got it the next day) and he loved it. Then I sent it to another friend that was a photographer and she loved it. For like a week I couldn't get over it. Then a few years went by and I forgot about the photo. And then I discovered view bug. I had grown my photography and increased my skills and view bug was the place to see how I was doing compared to other photographers. I love view bug and it is where I spend most of my time when I'm on the computer. One day I was looking at the challenges and I saw one that was for "sunsets and silhouettes" (I think thats what it was called) and that's when I remembered the photo. I immediately uploaded it and it started getting likes, and then more likes, and awards, and more awards and soon enough it was my top picture on view bug.

In my camera bag

This photo was taken before I started photography but now that I have this is what is normally in my camera bag https://kit.com/willisorrphotography. Also now that I have started photography I use Adobe© CC.

Feedback

Just go somewhere where you can see the sunset and bring a friend (preferably near water). Find something that the the sunset can reflect off of, train tracks, a park bench, etc. The wait for the sunset to come. Don't be afraid to take a lot of pictures. The more the merrier because you have a better chance of getting the sunset in the perfect spot. So go out and try it. I would also like to see your final products so message me on view bug with the photo you took and edited. Remember that contrast is the key to photos like these but use it sparingly.
