I love the way jellufish move through the water continuously making changing patterns with their bodies and tentacles. They have beautifully coloured bodies and I could watch - and photograph - them for hours, if only my son would let me!Editing
Postprocessing is very important to me and this is what I enjoy most. The jellies were swimming in murky pale grey water with excreta and particles of food. Using Photoshop cc, I copied and pasted the photo (after resizing) onto a black background and then carefully deleted the grey background so the background was then black. I merged the two layers. I enhanced the colours, using hue/saturation selecting red, magenta etc and drew in the commnecting sections of tentacles which I had accidentally erased when deleting the background. I used the beightness/contrast tool until I was happy. In my camera bag
Camera, zoom and wide angle lens, camera instruction book - and a bar of chocolate!Feedback
Learn PhotoShop, going to classes if necessary. Be prepared for hours of post processing work. Take many images of the same subject so you can select the best.
