Behind The Lens

Location

The image was taken along the wonderful single track Glen Etive road in the Glencoe valley. The area is well known for featuring in a James Bond film and for it's many waterfalls, trails and a place climbers love to frequent with peaks such as Buachaille Etive Mor and Bidean nam Bian close at hand.

Time

The image was taken mid afternoon after spending an hour at another location earlier in the day.

Lighting

The lighting was a little harsh being honest but we helped control some of the shadows with some fill flash.

Equipment

This image was taken using a Sony full frame camera, with Zeiss optics up front couple dto a heavy duty Manfrotto tripod for stability.

Inspiration

We had offered to assist Louise (pictured) in achieving an image she wanted to reproduce earlier and took the opportunity to create an image or two that was all about encapsulating the Scottish Highlands and it's wild and remote beauty.

Editing

The sky was enhanced and though the image is a tad overcooked with regard to our conventional landscape imagery, the contrast at the time it suited the image well...

In my camera bag

Sony full frame camera, two Zeiss F2 and F2.8 lenses, six batteries, three SD cards, Filters, Sensor cleaning equipment. wipes, cloths, flash, tools for tripod, headlamp, midge net, black plastic bin liner and a whole array of little odds and sods...

Feedback

Pick a warm day, head there early to give plenty of time to scout round and make sure the midge are on their annual holidays if the wind is light...
