The tracks through Mankato, MN are heavily used. This evening, I happened to be in that area of town when two trains approached from opposite directions. There are two sets of tracks, but they must have been exchanging cars on one of them, as they both sat motionless for about a half hour.

Nice Image!! There are double tracks where I live in Chiloquin Oregon and I asked a railroad employee about two motionless trains at a crossing and he told me that most likely they were waiting for the tracks to clear ahead. The Union Pacific Diesel engines pass bye here several times a day heading north and south from Washington to California. I enjoy the sound they make passing bye sounding there whistles and listing to cars rolling down the tracks.
