A view from inside the production floor at the Black Frost Distillery – I was granted permission to enter and take a few photos. The lighting was tricky and I had to "sample the wares" before going back there, so it's not quite as sharp as I'd like ;-)

Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the Black Frost Distillery in New Ulm, MN.

Time

Taken in the mid-afternoon

Lighting

The skylight provided the majority of the light.

Equipment

This was hand-held, as I was unable to bring a tripod.

Inspiration

The still was fascinating, especially from a low angle. I've never seen a still like this before, not that I'm a still expert by any means.

Editing

The image was processed into black and white with adjustments to brightness, contrast, and some detail.

In my camera bag

I typically have a Canon EOS R6 with 15-35mm, 50mm, and 100mm macro lenses. Occasionally, I bring the 100-500mm and/or a backup body (Canon RP). The tripod is usually in the back of my vehicle.

Feedback

Ask someone for access. The worst hey can say is no.
