The Draw

I did a hike out to this ice cave to shoot the sunset, but the wind was so strong I had to abort the endeavor. I attempted to setup my tent and the wind thwarted my best efforts so with my tail firmly between my legs I hiked back out for a mile and tried to setup my tent again...no luck. I hiked another half mile and found a grove of trees (bushes) that I could hide inside and setup my tent again (this time with some internet assistance on how to setup a tent in snowy and windy conditions). Victory!
I fell asleep around 2am and awoke at 3am to find my rain flap had blown off due to the wind. I was too lazy in the cold to fix it so I laid there for another hour before packing up and hiking back to the cave. Against the wind the whole way. Everytime it gusted I had to lean hard into it so I wouldn't fall over and go flying back down the hill. As I was shooting these images the wind gust blowing through the cave covered my bag in snow, so that was fun.
Mother nature was fighting hard to keep me out and she succeeded the first night, but I persevered and won in the morning. I guess we will call it a draw.
