Location
Taken from the top of Mt Victoria, Wellington, New Zealand. There is a lookout that provides a 306 degree view across Wellington (Capital city of New Zealand) and the harbour, North towards the Tararua Ranges and South to the South Island and Cook Strait.Time
Dusk, I'd finished work and walking home had caught glimpses of the cloud formations over the harbour, grabbed my cameras and jumped in the car and headed up to the lookout.Lighting
Not for this shotEquipment
I've just got myself a Sony ILCE-6000 so was using it for maybe the 2nd or 3rd time, tried a bunch of manual settings and also a few on auto (just in case), I think this was one of the manual set ups, ISO 800, Shutter Speed 1/160. Had the camera on a tripod I keep in the boot of the car so got a steady image.Inspiration
Wellington, being a harbour city at the bottom of the North Island gets a constant changing cloud cover, the prevalent winds are Northerly so the clouds come over the west coast, a range of hills and then the harbour so the cloudscapes are always worth looking for.Editing
A simple crop to focus, then minimal colour and light changes to keep the original as close as possible. In my camera bag
The new Sony ILCE-6000, and a Canon SX-530, I'm trying to take photos, not have the camera take them.Feedback
Right place, right time, always be willing to drop whatever your plans are to get the shot, this evening I had no plans to take photos, just wanted to get home and have a beer....
