It was taken at noon. The sun was quite strong outside, so I sat down in shade next to this man that ended up lighting a cigarette. He is in charge with keeping the temple clean, and had nothing to do at the time.Lighting
We sat in shade, outside under a big root. Most of the light that lid his face bounced off the stone patio and the surrounding temple walls. However, the sun was behind him which lid the smoke behind his head and the back of his head and neck.Equipment

His face was interesting, all the wrinkles that formed when he was taking a hit. He was very relaxed and natural about it.Editing
I shoot in raw so I go through a standard slight vibrance increase and adjustment of the highlights. I rarely deal with light balance adjustments while shooting, usually I keep it in auto and in this case it was alright to make the small adjustments afterwards.In my camera bag
I have been on the road for 5 months. My backpack is about 16 kg and it consists of nothing, but photography equipment. I use one body, D810 and have 3 lenses that cover it all 12-24 2.8, 24-70 2.8 and 70-200 2.8. It is everything I own in this world :) and it is all I need really. My backpack never comes off my shouders :) No matter if I am going just around the corner to a local market or I am taking a day trip. I have also a cable shutter release, tones of batteries and a tripod.Feedback
Find the right person, obviously a longer lens help to keep him/her in a comfortable distance. In this photo, the man spoke no english so I spent some time smiling and talking slow, trying to make him comfortable with my presence and the shutter noise. Then you can just take tones of photos from different angles and wait for the right smoke cloud to happen :)
