Location
I captured this gem in a busy Hanoi market after a whirlwind tour of the city.Time
It was around lunchtime. The streets were buzzing with activity with people going about their day.Lighting
This was so spur of the moment I just worked with what I had - my camera on manual.Equipment
I was shooting street photography with my Canon 80D and 18-135mm lens.Inspiration
I went to Vietnam specifically to capture the people and landscapes that emphasize the uniqueness of this country which is a photographers dream. At first as this woman walked towards where I was standing I thought she was smoking the last inch of a cigarette. It was only when I focused on her that I realised one of her teeth was protruding. It was an amazing moment for me.Editing
It was a given that this shot would be more striking in black and white rather than in colour. I sharpened the image slightly in Lightroom and emphasised the shadows and highlights. In my camera bag
My Canon 80D with 18-135mm lens, Sigma 105mm macro lens and Sigma 100-400 zoom. And old Canon 550D as backup body.Feedback
Pick a comfortable spot, take in hustle and bustle of the streets and just like Henri Cartier-Bresson, wait for that decisive moment to happen.
