It's definite 'trash' but he keeps it on the 'property'. He was really nice to me. I took the 'abandoned' picture on his block. I guess that's what 'Hill End ' is. You go there, see it! I think I saw plenty along the way. #geoff

So, I'm surprised this picture is more significant. I guess this is where you filled the vehicle, some time ago.

Location
The photo was taken at an old former historic mining town named 'Hill End'. It's situated about one hours drive north of Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia. It is a paved 'C' grade road with connections onto 'Mudgee'. If there are towns where time sort of stopped for a moment, then continued to progress, this one fits the scenario.Time
The time of day would have been just before lunch. It was an overcast day which allows the advantage of not having shadows compromising the image(s). The other part of interest, is that the petrol pumps were situated on a residents front lawn. A very unique ornament, far enough from their front door, not to draw suspicion that I might be some sort of 'dodgy' person. They didn't own a dog & if they did, it would have been a big one!Lighting
Having no breaking sunlight mean't the sky was like a blank canvas. You could point the camera in every direction, picture perfect. Working with the light conditions at a given time is part of creativity.Equipment
The camera in use is the Pentax K-50 standard 18-55mm auto focus lens. Its reasonable in price, with 23k mb for density of the cameras image sharpness. You can very easily pay more money for another brand, yet its image ability can be inferior.Inspiration
The Petrol Pumps rustic appeal, is what really inspires you. The dials, levers, and just the 'stand alone' situation.Editing
It's nice to give a picture a little touch up when required. You know, when the lens might give it a minor imperfection, or when you aren't exactly 'square on' to the subject. My picture, its just the 'raw' product. The more accurate the original, then any touch up is to enhance it.In my camera bag
Besides the camera & a supporting 50-200mm extra lens. An extra memory card, recharge unit, spare battery, lens cloths and maybe something like a 'fish eye' attachment, just to get a little creative space you might not normally think you would use. I also religiously pack a tripod, one that won't get knocked over. For overseas travel, a tripod needs to fit in the bag. An affordable light fibre made tripod isn't cheap.Feedback
For myself to be set for a certain set of images, I do some home work. Not a lot, but enough so that you maximise the return for the time & money you spend on a photo shoot. Its the 'framework' you set for yourself, and when you get there, you do the colouring in. #geoff
