Upon my first trip back to my hometown in almost 10 yrs, it’s decay with pockets of new commerce was not close to what I left behind. Using my infrared filter I wanted to capture some of those locations, close to home, under a different sort of light than my memories.
This truck was the only vehicle left -possibly abandoned as well- parked behind the other two business that separated my home from my high school along with the line of trees. Both consistently busy and active but now boarded up and getting covered in weeds. The back parking lot this truck was parked in once used to be so full that cars would wait on the shoulder before they could even enter the drive way.
Using infrared light it helps disconnect that nostalgia and bittersweet feeling of the past and transforms it into a place of beauty and new life.
