Clouds had shrouded my view of Lassen Peak this day and then there was a brief parting of the clouds that revealed the summit. I took this photograph from the shores of crystal clear Lake Helen at 8,250 feet elevation. Mount Lassen is 10,462 ft above sea level and is the southernmost active volcano in the Cascade Range. It is part of the Cascade Volcanic Arc which is an arc that stretches from northern California to southwestern British Columbia. Located in the Shasta Cascade region of Northern California, it is one of the largest lava domes on Earth.

The silver would darken as it oxidized creating a very subtle and soft look.
