I had seen this one white lupine bloom in a sea of your more typical violet ones as we were driving back to our house. That evening, as I was staring intently at the clouds, I had a feeling the sunset might just be spectacular. So, I headed down the road with my camera to find that white lupine and was not disappointed with the nature's display.

Location
In a rancher's field, off a dirt road, in the South Western Rocky Mountains of Colorado.Time
One summer evening, while driving up a familiar dirt road in the mountains of Colorado, I happened to spot this bright white lupine bloom in a sea of the more common vibrant blue lupine flowers. The sky was threatening a storm but I decided to set up my composition as I could tell the clouds might catch some color from the setting sun. I was not disappointed.Lighting
All naturally provided. I was just in the right place at the right time.Equipment
I shot this on my Sony A7rii with the 16-35mm F4 lens on a tripod.Inspiration
I had recently started to take my landscape photography a little more seriously and the idea of telling a story and putting in the effort to get out during the right times of day was a big motivation for this shot. The uniqueness of the white lupine surrounded by all the blue ones told a great story and I was lucky enough to catch one of the best sunsets I have ever witnessed. Nature and all its grand beauty was my inspiration.Editing
My philosophy with editing my landscape photos is to never push them beyond belief. I want to preserve the feeling of being there and allow the audience the chance to feel as if they were right there next to me as I took the picture. That's not to say I did not edit this photo; removing distracting elements, dodging and burning certain areas to help bring attention where I want it, increasing and decreasing contrast, exposure, and saturation, etc. etc.In my camera bag
It depends on what kind of photo adventure I am on but for landscape outings I always have my Sony A7rii, 16-35mm F4 and my 70-200mm F4 lenses. I also carry a filter kit that has a variable ND, ND 1000, and a circular polarizer. Of course, a tripod as well.Feedback
My advice is always the same to anyone who is interested in photography of any kind. Just keep shooting, learning, and loving. Earth's natural beauty is all around us and we are just fortunate enough to be "a lens through which the universe can admire itself" -Alan Watts. So, get out there and make the photos you want to make.
