Behind The Lens

Location

This image was shot at Albert Dock in Liverpool ten years ago. This was the first of two visits to Liverpool.

Time

This was taken just before noon.

Lighting

It was rather dull and overcast that morning.

Equipment

I used the Canon EOS 450D with an 800 - 200mm canon zoom lens, set at 90mm and with an aperture of f8. No flash or additional light was used in this image. Film speed was ISO 200.

Inspiration

Liverpool was a very inspiring place to shoot for me. After a 15 year career working as a fashion and portrait photographer, I decided to move into something totally different and I started shooting architecture and detail shots Details can be found just about anywhere you look and Liverpool was no exception.

Editing

I did not any post processing for this image.

In my camera bag

I carry one EOS 450D body with a grip, 5 lenses ranging from 16 to 300mm, a flash unit, extension rings, lens hoods, numerous filters, a monopod as well as spare batteries. If I'm using a car I also tend to carry two tripods, a Manfrotto for landscapes and a Culmann for any close up work.

Feedback

Keeping one's eyes open and receptive to anything that can make a super image is essential. Remember you can make great images from almost everything. Details are all around us; just keep looking around you.
