Behind The Lens

Location

This squirrel resides at the Denver Botanical Gardens, Denver Colorado.

Time

Most likely the worst time of day, 1 pm.

Lighting

I used the natural lighting of the day no clouds in the sky.

Equipment

I used my backup camera at the time Nikon Coolpix. Hand held, no flash or other equipment.

Inspiration

I saw the squirrel on the ground picking up the flower and run up the flower arbor to have lunch. I was not know how well it turned out till of got back home. I was hoping for the reflection in the squirrels eye and captured it,

Editing

I used Capture One Pro to edit the photo it was a JPG, so there was limited editing done. I brought down the exposure and added a little contrast and saturation.

In my camera bag

My bag has my Canon 1D MkIV ( yes old school), 5DS R, Canon 70-200mm f2.8, 24-105mm f4.0, 100mm Macro, Canon Speedlite 600EX II-RT, ND Filters from BreakThrough 6x 6x 10x, and a ColorChecker card.

Feedback

I carry my camera on a shoulder sling so it ready at a moments notice to capture that just in time photograph. Do you best to have your setting already programed and locked in. the biggest tip is to look around you in a 360 degree pattern. A lot happens behind you.
