This photo was taken at the Mormon Barn in Grand Teton National Park which lies conveniently next to Yellowstone National Park.Time
The weather was changing a lot that day. As I traveled through Grand Teton National Park, certain areas would be experiencing light rain while other areas such as where Mormon Barn was remained dry. However, with the variable weather patterns in the area, I never stayed too long in one location in hopes of catching a unique weather pattern like in this photo, where dynamic clouds and rain can be seen in the background while sunlight continues shining from behind.Lighting
I would say the lighting in this photo was from perfect coincidence and timing as it commonly is with nature. I always keep my camera ready when traveling around since it is impossible to predict when natural phenomenon such as the sun shining through the clouds would happen.Equipment

I love moody natural scenes and nothing frames one better than an abandoned structure lying in front of a dynamic country-side landscape. In my mission to compose unique photos, I drove to this location to see what compositions I could make with an abandoned barn, and to my amazement, nature provided me a helping hand in making my photo look unique.Editing

My Nikon D5300 is always with me wherever I go. If I know that I will be taking long exposure photography, whether it be the milky way or waterfalls, I will have my MeFOTO Backpacker Classic Tripod with me. Most of the time, I have a Monoprice Carbon Fiber Monopod with me which is light to carry, and simple to use. I also have a Nikon DX 55-300 mm zoom lens for closer-up photography, as well as Tiffen UV Protector filters on both lenses and Tiffen Polarizing filters at my disposal.Feedback
At the end of the day, some elements are unpredictable and may mess up your plans for a great photo opportunity. The best you can do is set yourself up well enough for the right moment. Do not be frustrated by hit and misses; with enough patience, preparation, and a little touch of luck, you will always manage to capture the right moment. Remember, sometimes missing spectacular moments such as a red sunrise or a wolf delivering a kill bite to its prey may place you into the right time frame for something even more wonderful. You will learn to become a patient yet sharp photographer with time, so do not forget to enjoy every moment as well!
