Vancouver Island, British Columbia
Coming off a month long vacation to O'ahu, Hawai'i where I make my annual pilgrimage to see family and surf I've found myself full with ideas. Many of these ideas revolve around what it is I want to do with my life, and what lies ahead of me on this photographic journey of mine. Sometimes being a full time creative is a bit like walking through a dark cavern. We are lucky when we can see the light ahead, coaxing us forward. In one sense the light signals an end to the windy, challenging, and murky path, but this is just snapshot, not necessarily a full moving analogy. Anyways I'm rambling.
I was inspired to take this shot by my friend Adam Gibbs who photographed this slot canyon from this perspective. The lighting conditions between our images are significantly different, and therefore the mood varies as well. Chalk it up to individuality and artistic freedom to create as one sees fit. If you haven't heard of Adam, I highly recommend checking out his work. His images of Canada's natural lands are full of expression and creativity, plus he is a great dude to hang out with.
