On Pearson Creek Road, where winter still reigns, sits a lonely hunter's shack overlooking the swollen creek. During the fall and winter months, elk seek shelter in the canyon from the harsh winter storms at upper elevations. Hunters take advantage of this winter migration during the hunting season. But its a gamble because sometimes the winter storms don't arrive till after hunting season.
