Behind The Lens

Location

This action shot was taken at the annual Canadian Power Toboggan Championship in Beausejour, Manitoba.

Time

mid day photo with lots of overcast and snow dust made for a challenging shot.

Lighting

with lots of overcast and snow dust i used an external flash with no tripod just a handheld position balancing on a fence trying to pick up as much of the snow dust as possible to give the effect of the 100mph speeds.

Equipment

Cannon 70 D with a speed lite 100-400 mm using the nearby fence for stability with temperatures in the -30c range hoping the several battery's i brought along were going to last the day.

Inspiration

my love of the out doors and the speed factor and the love of the sport with the tons of adrenaline in the air made for a great day despite the less than perfect lighting.

Editing

minor auto fix in lightroom

In my camera bag

several lens and cameras

Feedback

lots of battery's in cold weather & a tripod would work best and using fast equipment.
