Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at Crowden Brook, Glossop. About a 10 minute walk from the Campsite albeit with the amount of snow that fell it probably took us around 25 minutes.

Time

This was one of my favourite images from the day’s shoot, with very little processing needed.

Lighting

I remember it was a very dull wintery day, which makes this image look like it was taken or converted to monotone/black and white which wasn’t the case.

Equipment

Taken on my Sony A7ii with the kit lens 28-70mm at 61mm, F5.6, 1/800, ISO-100 handheld.

Inspiration

I loved the framing and the lines leading up too and away from the tree.

Editing

The only post-processing work done was a little cropping and the removal of some sheep "poop" in the foreground. Other than that what you see is what I saw.

In my camera bag

I always carry a couple of spare batteries, especially in the cold weather my A7ii obviously, 18mm Batis and kit lens on this particular trip. I had taken my tripod as we were hoping to get some long exposure work of the sky and clouds which didn't happen.

Feedback

Sometimes I go out with no idea of what I want to capture, which means I'm never disappointed if I don't get "That Shot" and I find those are the times that I come back with some real gems. Just grab your equipment, take a walk/drive and a slow walk with your eyes and ears open. Take in the environment and go adventure...
