On a trip to Jasper National Park in Canada, my wife and I were going to hike a trail near Mt. Edith Cavell. At the trailhead, everything was fogged in, and the hike looked pointless from a photo point of view. On the way back down the road, I looked out through the trees and thought I saw a lake. We stopped and walked over to the area I had seen and found this view.

Location
This was from a two week trip to Alberta, Canada, where we visited mostly Banff and Jasper National Parks. The location is in Jasper NP.Time
It was mid morning around 9:30, and we were planning to hike a trail further up the road from here. When we got to the trailhead, it did not look nice enough to do the hike, so we went back down the road and found this lake.Lighting
It had been cloudy and foggy that morning, but as we explored the lake, the sky started to open up a little and we got some displays of sunlight through the clouds.Equipment
Canon 6D, Canon 16-35 mm f2.8, OSN tripod.Inspiration
We had bailed out on our plan to hike a trail near the mountain, and turned back down the road. On the way, I saw the lake through the trees. Since we no longer had a plan for the morning, I thought we should check out the lake. It turned out to be beautiful, and this scene was just one of several that presented as I went along the lake shore.Editing
Yes, with Photoshop Elements. I do not remember the details well, as this was 8 years ago, but I think I brightened the colors a little and added contrast. In my camera bag
Now I have a Nikon D850 w/Nikon 16-35mm f4, and a Nikon D7200 w/Nikon 18-200mm. NISI ND and graduated filters, lens cleaning brush and cloth, spare memory cards and batteries.Feedback
When I travel, I try to stay in one area for a couple days. This gives me time for scouting locations, and to look out for better light conditions where I want to shoot if the weather is not agreeable at first.
