There is a small lake up steam from here. This water flow was used to generate electricity for Cookeville in the early 1900's. This is a very good water flow over the falls in the photo. I have seen water up to eight feet deep shooting out over the falls edge and the small tree on the left was taking a beating. There was a large amount of water flow this past fall. It took out what was a wooden viewing platform for the Middle falls upstream of this the main falls. The platform was 20 feet above the normal water level. It also took out the steel stairs that allows you to venture to the base where this photo was taken. When Center Hill Lake level is up you can take your boat to the base of the falls. The falls are one hundred thirty feet.
