Location
Photo was taken at the Kapawi Ecolodge an ecotourism enterprise run by the native Achuar tribe deep in the Amazon Rainforest of Ecuador near the Peruvian border. The lodge is located on the edge of a lagoon with an elevated boardwalk extending into the lagoon.
Time
It was late afternoon about a half hour before sunset.
Lighting
I was loosing light and I knew that it would be fairly dark under the boardwalk and I knew that I could not handhold with a slow shutter speed so I placed my camera lens hood between the slats of the board opening and took the shot.
Equipment
Nikon D90, ISO 800, 28-105mm Nikkor lens set at 28mm, f/4, .8 sec

Inspiration
I knew that it would be interesting shot getting a reflection of the boardwalk on the water. Between the time of day and slower shutter speed it created a color shift on the water that added a nice touch to the composition.
Editing
I added more color and contrast and a bit of sharpening as I always do some minor manipulation to enhance the photo.
In my camera bag
I still use my Nikon D90 but now I use the all purpose lens of a Nikkor 18-200mm lens. I have a Nikon1 J1 mirrorless camera with a 10-30mm and 30-100mm lens. I have a Yongnuo YN565EX flash speedlite and a Vello IR remote control. I always carry a rain cover just case.
Feedback
Try to look for something different other than a snapshot. Everyone is a photographer these days with a smart phone or a point and shoot camera. I'm big on reflections in a photo. Capture a three dimensional photo with a foreground, mid and background that when viewed it is two dimensional but giving the look of 3D. Of course always look for interesting lighting, composition and color. Sometimes photos look better in black and white and its easy to do with todays software, just know when to choose the right one.
