Behind The Lens

Location

Sharbot Lake, Ontario, Canada

Time

630pm

Lighting

Natural light with a setting sun

Equipment

Canon 5D, mark ii. I used a canon 430ex as a fill flash for some of the photos in this shoot.

Inspiration

The model in this picture is a friend of mine and she asked me to do this shoot. We were hoping to have more color in the leaves but we were visiting a week or two too early. So we did the shoot on the local boat docks and didn't feature the leaves or scenery as much as we had originally planned.

Editing

I used Adobe Lightroom and removed a dock post from behind the models head. It was my first time using Lightroom so it was a slow and tedious learning process but I wanted to get it right to feature the beauty of my model, Kim

In my camera bag

Canon 5D, Mkii. 3 Canon lenses, Canon Speedlight 430ex, tripod. I also use my Samsung 7S smart phone for some pictures. It does an amazing job in the correct applications.

Feedback

Use a setting sun to get more color and reduce the effects of shadows. Then use Lightroom or Photoshop to make the picture pop. An increase in contrast during processing usually helps a picture pop.
