Behind The Lens

Location

Lahic, Azerbaijan an ancient artisan metal working town, famous for handcrafted copper and brass. Azerbaijan is a small country which lies on the Caspian Sea wedged between Russia to the North and Iran to the South.

Time

Early afternoon on a very rainy spring day.

Lighting

The lighting was impacted by the heavy cloud cover.

Equipment

Taken hand held Canon 5D Mark III using a 24-105 mm lens with a polarizing filter.

Inspiration

I was inspired to attempt to capture the copper colored drainage coming down the middle of the cobbled lane. The rivulet had some mud mixed in the water giving the appearance of liquid copper almost iridescent in contrast to the low clouds and interesting structures.

Editing

I post processed the raw file in Photoshop to achieve a decent white balance and finished using Nic software.

In my camera bag

At the time I usually packed my Canon 24-105mm, Canon 70-200mm F4 and a variety of filters.

Feedback

I try to find things that are unique and different using different reference points of view. It's all too easy for me to just document a location without a thought about the artistic aspects particularly when being rushed.
