This is one of my favorite pieces of public art. It combines strength and muscularity with vulnerability. Headless, armless, legless naked torso of a man, with rough surfaces that look like stone connected in layers and sections, but are metallic and patina aged. A fallen soldier? Athlete? Suicide? All anguish in the tense muscles, with no facial expression. Precariously balancing on the right buttock, legs splayed, crotch exposed, back arched, chest heaving. Energy on the brink of failure. Powerful, sexual, strong, yet totally anonymous. Massive at ground level, yet small in front of an imposing office building on a busy street. Easy to miss; hard to forget; always one to come back to.
