Of all the new subway stations opened in 2017 in Toronto, the most spectacular is the Pioneer Village Station. Rusting steel plates clad long stretches on this very large station, both inside and outside. Red panels accentuate with sudden flashes of colour. A tall "smoke stake" silo sits proudly at one end and shoots through the roof with prismatic star-like pentagonal panels. The light bounces here, there, everywhere. Most exciting experience for a subway station.
