I revisited my favourite reef in the Maldives to get some more shots of these stunning anemones with their resident Maldivian anemone fish, which are unique to the region. To get this shot, we dived at dusk when the anemones start to close up, revealing their neon sides but still showing their stings. To get the angle, I hovered head down, finning in the current to stay still, and holding the camera upside down below the anemone, looking slightly upwards. To get the stings to glow, I used a wide angle video light angled from the left and inbuilt strobe to add highlight detail, with the green fronds and nemo fish dividing the frame and the background showing as black for contrast. It was then a case of patiently waiting for the fish to take position as it darted in and out of its home.
