Behind The Lens

Location

Heading over on the Caledonian Macbrayne ferry from Mallaig to Armadale after spending the day on the Isle of Rum - an island I spent 4 years of my childhood on. The view is of the Small Isles, and the peir leaving Mallaig.

Time

I took this photo as the sun was setting on my way home from a day on the Isle of Rum, on our way back on the ferry to Armadale, Skye.

Lighting

I looked out the window of the ferry and saw the beautiful sunset out the window, I grabbed my camera and took the picture while the light was perfect.

Equipment

Canon Powershot SX540 HS (Bridge Camera). No other equipment used. - I've always loved taking photos but this is my first proper camera and I love it.

Inspiration

I love taking photos and have loved taking photos for a while. I love taking landscape photos, this is one of my favourite photos and was my first framed photo.

Editing

I did not do any post-processing - I am just starting out with a real camera and am just getting used to my camera

In my camera bag

I am just staring out so my kit is basic at the moment - I always carry an extra memory card, my mini-gorilla gripping tri-pod, a screen cloth for my lens, my camera (of course), and some DIY camera equipment (for example, a plastic bag with a hole in it for a lens to poke through for taking photos in the rain)

Feedback

Honestly, this was a lucky shot, it was just down to good timing, and I'm so proud if it. It was a beautiful day and a vibrant sunset.
