This photo was taken at Johnny's Chop Shop, in Carnaby Street, London. Johnny's Chop Shop are London based barber and male grooming brand I've been working with for just over a year.Time
It was taken during the afternoon on a shoot in the barber shop. The lighting isn't great, so I decided to use my trusty speedlight to add some drama.Lighting
The barber has been lit from the right of shot to add some drama and detail and allows me to use a fast shutter in poor light.Equipment
I used my trusty Fujifilm X-T2 with the 16-55mm XF lens. Plus my Godox speedlight and trigger.Inspiration
The inspiration for the shot was partly from my numerous shoots I've done with the barbers and learning what works best. Also, I like to try new things and keep it interesting as I understand being in front of the camera can be a daunting prospect. My brief is to combine barber and product, so I thought this concept would be the perfect way to achieve this.Editing
Minimal post processing as the flash does most of the heavy lifting. I have a preset I've developed for this particular client which has I've created for the various types of photography I do for them. Oh, and I needed to remove the fishing wire!In my camera bag
My bag is always with me and always full. Currently, I have a Fujifilm X-T2 and X-T20 with 35mm 1.4, 10-24mm and 16-55 Fujifilm lenses. Plus a Godox speedlight and trigger.Feedback
Patience and a large memory card. This photo is one shot out of countless attempts to get everything working in shot. It's also one of a series of shots I took that day with various members of the Johnny's Chop Sop team.
