Behind The Lens
Location
This photo was taken at my portrait studio in Athens Greece.Time
It was early morning, but the light wasn't a problem because we worked with studio flashes.Lighting
This photo was taken with 2 studio flashes. The main light was placed in front of the man and at the right side of him. The second light was placed behind of him to seperate him a little from background. Also, a reflector was used the left side of him to fill him a little.Equipment
I used a Nikon D810 with 85mm lens. Two Bowens studio flashes and a simple reflector.Inspiration
For this style of portraits my main inspiration is the old classical master portrait photographers like Monte Zucker etc.Editing
The main post-processing was done inside the lightroom like the black and white conversion and some dodge and burn processing. After some skin retouching was done with photoshop. In my camera bag
I use Nikon and Sony professional equipment. So my bag almost always contains the following equipment: 1 camera Nikon D810, 1 camera Sony A7ii, 24-70 Nikon 2,8, 70-200 Sigma 2,8 and a Sony FE 24-240, flash radio frequencies of Pocket Wizard and many memory cards!Feedback
Our digital era and technology allows many who are not professionally occupied with photography to have easy access to it and to sometimes claim many jobs from professional photographers. This is quite usual ,especially with wedding photos, where any "Uncle Bob" assumes the title of an expert and puts himself over any professional. So I believe that today's professional wedding and portrait photographer must be well aquainted with posing and lighting, to be familiar with his equipment , ability and basic photo processing. This can be achieved only with continuous education and hard work.He will have to look back at older seasoned photographers so as to know the basic rules of posing and lighting and to be inspired by the young great photographers, so as to present something completely different. Finally, participation in professional communities, such as Viewbug is important because through them a professional can benefit and develop even more, technically and professionally alike.he lighting and how this affects to our photographs
