Behind The Lens

Location

Taken from a dock in Caye Caulker, Belize.

Time

Sunset was around 6-7 pm, I just happened to be there at the time with my Camera.

Lighting

I was trying to capture the real reds and yellows of the sunset, I took many pictures from different angles. Every minute light captured with the camera changes drastically. I choose this over the others because that was the precise moment that gave the most interesting contrast. Also I could catch birds in the picture that you have to time properly, and adjust shutter speed.

Equipment

I used an old Fuji CoolPix waterproof camera, I believe was a 12MP (I travel light). This was old school hand held camera technique.

Inspiration

I was going through a lot of emotions, this sunset made me leave all behind, even for a moment.

Editing

Not much post-processing, I like photos to be more organic. I only made adjustments to basic things like contrast, saturation, brightness, etc to pop up the colors. This was not a RAW format so no much editing could be done anyway.

In my camera bag

I had my Canon Powershot G7 that was my favourite until stollen. I replaced with a G16 but not so happy with results even being a newer model. I also have a Nikon D3200, that I use not so often but gives good results.

Feedback

Camera cost or quality is not so important if you can handle manual mode; you also have to experiment to get all sort of results until you find your style. Inspiration can hit anytime, anywhere, be ready and just go with the flow. Take as many pictures as you can.
