Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken last summer in China. That was my first travel to that amazing country, and of course one of the first things on my to-do list was visiting The great wall.

Time

I don't remember what exactly was the day, but it was in the middle of summer, ones of the hottest days of the year and to be everything absolutely like in The Murphy's laws we were there on the noon. Lots of Chinese people, lots of sun's rays and those beautiful mountains around us.

Lighting

Well, I wanted this amazing view to have much more dramatic so I did not hesitate to highlight a little more the sky so I added more contrast and lightening in the clouds.

Equipment

For that shot, it helped me Nikon, D3200 with 18-55mm lens.

Inspiration

First the magic of this place. When you step for the first time and think about of people who were there, who built that wall brick by brick so many years before you to have a chance to walking through this history, it is just amazing! When you realize that on this same wall, where you just went to see like some part of the history, people are lost there lives as dedicated builders, sacrificed men and sons, and brave soldiers, protecting their lands, you get inspired to show the view, the magic through your eyes.

Editing

As I already mentioned I wanted some more drama at that shot, so Lightroom helped me to get this effect. Generally, first, I enhanced some basic parameters like shadows, whites, blacks, color saturation, so to be able to show better the borders of mountains even these which are far away... Then, of course, I had a little job on the upper part of my image to achieve more clear sky and clouds.

In my camera bag

Of course my camera, at least two lenses, some filters, and tripod.

Feedback

Always shoot your photos in RAW! This might allow you to enhance some details or if an afterward decided to achieve a genius idea, there is nothing to stop your imagination to make your best shot.
