Location
This photo was taken at a beach about 10 minutes from where I live in a small town in Ontario. It’s one of my favourite places to go to watch the sunset and go for walks.Time
I took this in the late afternoon, just before the sun started the set. The light coming down was perfect for this shot.Lighting
I took advantage of the natural lighting in this photo. I focused on the light when I took the shot so that it would really stand out. The way the light reflected off the snow made for a beautiful capture.Equipment
I took this on my Canon Rebel T5. The lens was just a 18-55 mm. I didn’t use any other equipment.Inspiration
I was out for a walk and had my camera with me, when I saw the way the sun was setting to create a beautiful landscape. I didn’t really need anything more than how beautiful the view was to inspire me to try to get a photo of it.Editing
I did a tiny bit of post-processing, but not much at all! I just brought the brightness down a little and put up the contrast a bit. That way the rays of light coming down from the sky really stood out.In my camera bag
I always have my Canon Rebel T5 with me, with the standard 18-55mm lens. Then I also carry my lens cleaner, a mini tripod, an external flash, and a 55-250mm zoom lens.Feedback
I wish I could give better advice, but I was honestly really lucky to find the sun setting how it was. If you live somewhere with winter, going out about an hour before sunset to somewhere that you can see it setting over a frozen lake is a great idea! The way the snow and ice reflect the light is beautiful to capture.
