Abisko in far north Sweden - one of the best places in the world for seeing the northern lights. By air to Kiruna and some 60 miles drive on the E10 higway in direction to Narvik. While the temperature was horrible (-31C - -23.8F), the gods of photography were for once generous and gave us a crystal clear sky. Out in the open from 9 pm to almost midnight, the spectacle of bright stars and the aurora borealis was a reward for the effort. In this picture the lower part takes frozen lake "Tornetraesk" and just beneth it is the E10 higway, with and occasional truck passing by. (and leaving a light trace in the picture).
