Once in Berlin, it's easy to fall in love with the precious items on display in the Altes Museum, mostly coming from ancient Italy and Greece: this stunning mosaic is "Pair of Centaurs Fighting Cats of Prey" from Hadrian's Villa in Tivoli, C. 130 AD.The artwork remains as a floor decoration in the dining room of the main palace within Emperor Hadrian’s extensive villa complex, located nearby Rome. The mosaic was likely created to showcase the wealth of the royal family.The level of detail is absolutely amazing, as well as the colours!
