They are notoriously difficult subjects to photograph, unlike their much more gregarious and colourful cousins in Africa. They are quite dull in comparison, but you have done so well with this one, catching it in natural habitat, instead of on the ubiquitous street-lights or up high in a tree.

I was fortunate to be on a high river bank and the bird was perched on a dead tree not much above eye level, As you mention they are usually perched too high or on inappropriate perches .
