Behind The Lens

Location

I live In Illinois. This photo was taken down a beautiful wooded trail that used to be an old railroad track near my home.

Time

This particular photo was taken in the early afternoon. I normally would never take photos at that time of day but there is plenty of shade so I do not have to worry about the sun.

Lighting

This trail is perfect to take at any time of day. I shot it at the entrance of the trail to get just enough lighting in her face and keep the background a beautiful deep color.

Equipment

I used my Nikon D5300 with my 50 mm lens. Very simple.

Inspiration

My daughter has High functioning Autism. Most would not know when they met her, but the struggle is real for her. At the same time she is absolutely amazing and she sees the world in a magical way. There is such depth and mystery in the way she thinks and the camera sees it. I added snow in this cold day when I edited it to enhance and bring out that magical element she brings to us every day!

Editing

I am self taught with only my camera and my 50 mm lens. I do love to edit my pictures on my computer that I have learned on my own as well.

In my camera bag

Again, only my camera.

Feedback

I found that that simply looking for that perfect look in there eyes, or that perfect candid pic, whatever I do I try to capture their personality rather than a forced look.
