Behind The Lens

Location

This photo is taken on a nature trail just a block away from my home. I am self taught and really have enjoyed the learning process.

Time

It was around 6pm, about an hour or so from sunset and the nature trail provides a beautiful background during anytime of day, but especially at the end of the day when the harsh sunspots aren’t as prominent.

Lighting

I was looking for a whimsical look. To get the little girl to pose the way I was looking for I simply asked her to pretend she was reaching for an apple off of a tree! The editing room is where most of the fun begins by adding g the lighting and tweaking the colors a bit!

Equipment

Simply my D5300 Nikon with my 50 mm lense.

Inspiration

I had seen something very similar a long time back and wanted to try it with my own editing.

Editing

I shoot in jpeg.

In my camera bag

I don’t have a lot of extra money for accessories. I self taught myself by watching YouTube videos on how to work the camera and how to edit. I didn’t even k ow how to turn on my camera when I bought it, and after 6 months of learning I started to do photography for a side job and hobby. I love it! I only have my camera and my 50 mm lens. I also have the Florabella collection with photoshop to edit with. That is all I use.

Feedback

The key is to make sure you can keep it simple and relaxed for the child to get that look. You can always add in lighting, etc. but if the child is uncomfortable, it will never work!
