Behind The Lens

Location

Cutty Sark is a museum in Greenwich,London UK.

Time

I took this picture at about 17:00 just as the museum was closing so that I would not have people in the picture.

Lighting

The day was cloudy which is great for taking pictures of this subject,as when it is sunny there is to much contrast and you would lose all the detail under the ship.

Equipment

I used a Canon Eos 6D whith a Sigma 12-24 mm F4,5-5,6 II DG hsm lens,I used it at the 12mm end of the lens.

Inspiration

I loved all the lines from the glass frame spreading out like a spiders web, also the mixture of old and modern.

Editing

I used DXO Photolab to process the raw file,I straightened the converging verticals and lightened the hull and darkened glass areas so you could see the rest of the ship.

In my camera bag

I have a two canon full frame bodies,16-24 f4 mm, 28-70 f2.8 mm and 50mm f1.8 Canon lens.one Canon 470EX flash,one AD200 flash,flash diffusers and filters.

Feedback

To take pictures in museums you need to go there early so that there wont be a lot of tourist about, which helps from getting people in the shots, also make sure that you are allowed to take pictures as some artworks have copyrights.
