Location
I took this photo on the beach at sunrise at Cala’bona before breakfast when on holiday and is one of a collection of images I captured that morning, one of my favourites.Time
I awoke about 6am and decided to have a wander outside the hotel and watch the sunrise. This was taken about 7:30am after a few test shots and compositional shots.Lighting
Obviously the ambient light was superb and didn’t need to do very much other than stop down slightly without slowing down the shutter speed too much as I hadn’t brought a tripod with me.Equipment
I used my trusty Nikon 3100 and 70-300mm lens at 70mm. ISO400. F13-1/500th sec. JPG FORMATInspiration
I really loved the silhouettes from the parasols and the orange glow from the rising sun, also the sun rays and almost soft focus give this a dreamy appearance.Editing
As this is a JPG image there wasn’t a lot of processing done on this image other than a few tweaks in Enlight editing software. In my camera bag
I didn’t have a lot of equipment with me as I was limited to suitcase space and hand luggage, just My camera and three lenses. Nikon 3100 and 18-50mm, 50mm Prime lens and a Sigma 70-300mm telephoto, lightweight tripod plus cleaning cloths, spare cards, batteries and charger etc.Feedback
You definitely have to get up early maybe a couple of hours before and have all your equipment ready to go especially if you have to travel any distance. Also it’s best to case out the favourite spots beforehand, I was lucky with this spot as it was a stones thrown away from the hotel.
