Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the brides parents home in Hines Creek Alberta. The bride is actually my husbands cousins bride!

Time

I remember trying to get shots of all the bridesmaids getting ready then I remembered "I need the brides pictures" so I quickly got into the room where she was taking pictures & this is the one I got!

Lighting

There was a big window on the side of the room that let in a ton of light so I knew I could use that to my advantage

Equipment

This was shot with a Canon Rebel T3i 50mm 1.8 stm lens, no other equipment was used

Inspiration

I LOVE "getting ready" pictures & I had seen pictures before where the bride is putting on earrings or lipstick but I had never seen one that was shot over the shoulder of the bride while looking into a mirror & I am so glad I captured this moment

Editing

I honestly never do a whole lot to my pictures, I try to keep the natural aspect of pictures. What I did with this is I made it black and white & simply raised the brightness & contrast

In my camera bag

The only lens I use for portraits is my 50mm 1.8 & my Canon Rebel t3i. I have been looking to upgrade to a Mark iv with a 24-70mm 2.8 lens as well as a 50mm 1.2 lens.

Feedback

Honestly, this picture wasn't posed or planned at all, the bride was kind of nervous & moving fast trying to get things done so I had to work fast. I personally like unposed pictures better but If you wanted to re-create this It wouldn't be hard!
