My mother hates starlings but I find them rather lovely and was pleased with how the detail and colours of this one's feathers came out on a cold, damp, misty winter's day - you don't expect to find such beauty in a common garden bird. I was also happy with the way the branch neatly bisects the frame. I think the whole image has a quiet, slightly dreamy quality.
