Location
This is the lower tier of Kaaterskill falls in New York State.Time
Early in the morning just before sunrise.Lighting
The falls is in a deep valley shaded from the morning light so it was quite dark. I was able to take a long exposure in spite of the fact that so much of the subject was white.Equipment
Canon 20D with 18-55mm kit lens and tripod.Inspiration
Several feet of snow melted all in one day, so the falls were incredibly loud and powerful. The temperature dropped overnight to well below zero. The spray from the falls coated everything in ice. This was one of the most beautiful winter landscapes I have seen.Editing
Very little post-processing, just a little brightness, contrast, color correction.In my camera bag
