I got this shot at my family’s farm in West Virginia. My daughter and 2 nieces were walking back from the barn. I would love to say that I created this image but it was a moment that I was fortunate enough capture. My general approach to most photography is capturing the natural moments. More often than not my best photos are not posed or planned and I used very little editing after the fact. Other than adding the sepia tone there was no post edits.Time

It was a sweet moment in time. My best shots are the ones that I don’t set up, I’m just documenting the moment as I see it. Thats what I love about photography, that one moment in time is held there untouched by the next moment or the passage of time. It is making a split second immortal.Editing
Other than desaturation and adding the sepia tone there were no other post processing edits.In my camera bag
I always have a canon rebel, a few lenses and ND filters. When I was shooting on film a carried a lot more filters but digital has made it easier to do that after the shot and the freedom to try multiple variations on the same image.Feedback
This image just happened. My best advice is to be aware of the moments around you. Don’t let the preparation and planning take over. Be prepared always have your equipment with you and ready. There are so many types of photography explore all of them. Discover what works best for you and your style. Don’t be afraid to try something new. Know the rules but don’t be afraid to break them either. I am a completely self taught photographer, my best advice is to take as many pictures as possible, explore styles, settings, and be yourself, don’t recreate other people’s ideas make your own mark.
