I took this photo at Huntington Beach. It was my first time at a pier like this.Time
This mid afternoon. Around 2 or 3 pm.Lighting
I noticed the shot as I was walking around the beach. I stopped in the shade and loved how it looked while blocking the sun. I loved the detail I got with just enough of the lighting blocked.Equipment
I used no extra equipment.Inspiration
I was staring at the pier from this angle and decided to take the shot. It was my first time at a California beach with time to spare. As I wandered the beach I came here for shade, but the shot was too cool to pass up.Editing
The only thing I did was brighten the shadows a bit so there was more detail in the pier. With the backlighting it's easy to lose that detail.In my camera bag
I don't have any equipment. I would like to some day. I just use my phone to try and capture moments that impress me.Feedback
I'm new and just trying to get shots to remember moments. Most of the time they are just average photos, but occasionally I get something a little better than average.
