Behind The Lens

Location

This photo is in Minnesota farm country. We were visiting family at the time. A fog settled in one afternoon, and when we woke up the next morning, we were blessed with this amazing winter wonderland where the mist had settled on the branches and created this amazing frost.

Time

I want to say this was mid-morning. We were going take a drive to take some pics of the area, but this was at the end of the driveway. Needless to say, had to stop.

Lighting

I love that the sun was up to light the trees. You can see the shadow on the house to get an idea of where the sun was. Not very early in the morning, but high enough to really light all of the trees.

Equipment

Canon EOS T2i, hand held. Stock lens

Inspiration

The frost on the trees was what got us out in the very cold weather. When I turned around and saw the flag against all of the white, I knew I had to take that shot. One of my all time favorites to be sure. A bit of Americana from farm land.

Editing

I don't believe I had to on this shot. I just looked at the original and it looks the same. Nice to go back and revisit that day!

In my camera bag

Still have the same Canon. One of these days, I'll do the upgrade. I have bought a couple of new lenses. A Tamron 70-300 and a refurb Canon 18-55 which is usually on the camera unless I'm at an airshow.

Feedback

You're going to have to dress warm for this one. That was one very cooooold day. A bit of time out of the car taking shots and walking around, but then back to warm up. Minnesota has so much beauty, including old barns and such. Make sure you ask permission if you're getting in and around someone's property.
