(Rallus aquaticus) A fairly common but highly secretive inhabitant of freshwater wetlands. They are usually seen dodging around the edges of reed beds and seldom come out to allow a shot of their very colourful plumage. I was lucky with a series of shots at Cley Marshes NWT Nature Reserve as this bird emerged to cross to some reeds just by the hide I was in.

Great shot and a difficult one to take! Water rails are very difficult to photograph as they a very shy and spend much of their time hiding in the reed beds! Well done!
